More consistency.
More clarity.
More effort.
So you start to adjust.
You lower expectations.
You become more flexible.
You accept less to maintain connection.
And for a while, it works.
Things feel easier.
Less tension.
Less disappointment.
But something else happens.
Your needs don’t disappear.
They just go unmet.
And over time, that becomes noticeable.
Not dramatically.
But consistently.
You begin to feel the gap.
Between what you need
and what is being given.
And instead of questioning the environment…
you question yourself.
Maybe I’m asking for too much.
But what if that’s not the issue?
What if the issue is alignment?
Not everyone is able to meet you at the level you require.
Not because your needs are excessive.
But because their capacity is different.
And once you see that,
